According to the decision taken by the state cabinet, EPIL has been selected on a nomination basis to oversee the implementation of infrastructure development works under the scheme, which is aimed at improving socio-economic infrastructure for Scheduled Tribe communities.

The Directorate of Tribal Welfare, established in 2010 following the bifurcation of the Social Welfare Department, has been entrusted with promoting the integrated socio-economic development of Scheduled Tribes in Goa. A dedicated Project and Technical Cell was subsequently created under the Directorate to implement projects under various state and Central government schemes.
