Govt approves Rs 132.51 crore ROB project at Deendayal Port

New Delhi: The Government has approved a Rs 132.51 crore project for construction of a Road Over Bridge (ROB) at LC-235 at Deendayal Port Authority, aimed at easing cargo movement and reducing congestion.

The project, sanctioned by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, is part of the Sagarmala Programme and aligned with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan. It will be executed by Western Railway on a deposit basis.

The ROB is expected to remove key bottlenecks at the port by enabling seamless movement across rail crossings, thereby improving cargo evacuation and operational efficiency. The proposal was earlier appraised by the Delegated Investment Board to ensure adherence to safety and technical standards.

As per an official statement, t development is part of the government’s broader push to strengthen multi-modal logistics and enhance port connectivity, supporting India’s ambition to emerge as a global maritime hub.
