The milestone reflects a major shift towards faster execution in the sector and underscores the government’s focus on translating auctioned mineral assets into actual production. Earlier, the ministry had reported that over 200 mineral blocks were auctioned during FY26, indicating strong momentum in the sector.

The operationalisation of 30 blocks within the same financial year highlights significant progress in ensuring timely commencement of mining activities. This has been enabled by a series of reforms undertaken in recent years, including streamlined procedures, faster statutory clearances, improved coordination with state governments, and continuous monitoring.

The newly operationalised blocks are spread across key mineral-rich states such as Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Goa, Karnataka, and Rajasthan, among others. These blocks cover critical minerals including iron ore, limestone, bauxite, and manganese—essential inputs for core sectors like steel, cement, and infrastructure.

The development aligns with the government’s broader vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative championed by Narendra Modi, aimed at strengthening domestic mineral production and reducing import dependence.

The Ministry said the achievement is expected to enhance domestic output, generate employment, and support overall economic growth, while reaffirming its commitment to further accelerate the operationalisation of mineral blocks in the coming years.
