Roy reached the summit on January 7, 2026, at 2:00 PM local time, well ahead of schedule, after completing a gruelling 44-kilometre trek. The climb involved navigating extreme conditions, including temperatures plunging to minus 40 degrees Celsius, snowstorms and blizzards. He remained at the summit for 45 minutes before beginning his descent.

Congratulating Roy on the achievement, HAL Chairman and Managing Director Dr D K Sunil said the successful ascent was a powerful demonstration of determination and resilience. He added that HAL was proud to sponsor the expedition and extended best wishes to Roy for his future endeavours.

In a message to HAL, Roy described the ascent of Mt. Aconcagua, also known as the “Stone Sentinel,” as a humbling and demanding experience that tested his physical and mental endurance. He expressed gratitude to HAL for its support and dedicated the summit to those who aspire to dream big and pursue their goals with perseverance.

HAL said the achievement reflects its commitment to supporting excellence and inspiring achievements beyond its core aerospace and defence activities, while reinforcing values of courage, discipline and perseverance.
