New Delhi/Mumbai: Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) has put up its pavilion at 3rd Global Maritime India Summit (GMIS) 2023 held from October 17 to October 19 in Mumbai, the biggest maritime event in the country. This event was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, showcasing India’s maritime sector vision.
HSL signed four strategic MoUs as part of it's Green Shipping intiatives to enhance it capabilities in the Shipbuilding and Ship Repairs business verticals, and to explore synergies and partnerships for the niche market in India and neighbouring countries.

During the momentous occasion, HSL inked four strategic MoUs as part of its green shipping initiative. These MoUs serve as a cornerstone in promoting an e-vessel ecosystem in India, thus marking a significant leap towards a more environmentally friendly maritime industry.
HSL’s ambitious objectives include achieving autonomy in designing and building e-tugs by 2026, further aligning with international standards for build time, and condensing the construction period to just 8-12 months. To accomplish this, HSL is going with modular concept and developing a family of e-tugs with bollard pull capacity ranging from 40T to 80T and beyond with a wide range of options including compatibility for using green alternative fuels based on the diverse operational requirements of customers.
In addition, with a view to build a vibrant ancillary ecosystem cantered around Visakhapatnam, HSL is planning to include a few promising industries based in Visakhapatnam and costal districts to participate in the program, get exposure to new technologies and be part of a thriving ancillary system, which testifies the yard’s utmost commitment to implement green technologies in maritime sector.
The HSL pavilion was graced by Minister of Industries, infrastructure, IT, Investment & Commerce, Govt of Andhra Pradesh Gudivada Amarnath; Chairman of AP Maritime Board, Praveen Kumar (IAS); Under Secretary for Sagarmala Project; Former CNS Admiral Karmbir Singh; Managing Director of Sagarmala Development Company Dilip Kumar Gupta (IES); CTO of ESSAR Shipping Nilesh Jain; Chairman of Paradip Port Trust (PPT) PL Haranadh (IRTS); Chairman of Mumbai Port Trust (MPT) Rajeev Jalota (IAS); Former CMD of SCI; Chairman of Deen Dayal Port, other dignitaries & C&MD’s of shipyards and global industrialists, who appreciated HSL’s initiatives towards green shipping.
