India, Canada resolve to strengthen supply-chain of critical minerals

India and Canada have resolved to strengthen the supply-chain of critical minerals between the two nations at a ministerial-level meeting

New Delhi: India and Canada have resolved to strengthen the supply-chain of critical minerals between the two nations at a ministerial-level meeting on Monday. Union Minister for Mines Pralhad Joshi held a meeting with the Canadian delegation led by Ranj Pillai, Premier of Yukon, Canada, in New Delhi, said the Ministry of Mines in a statement. Pillai is visiting India from September 17 to 20. During this ministerial-level meeting, both nations deliberated on enhancing cooperation in the mining sector, especially the mining of critical minerals.

Yukon is the westernmost territory of Canada which is rich in mineral resources. Some of the prominent mineral resources of Yukon are Lead, Zinc, Silver, Gold, Asbestos, Iron and Copper.

India & Canada to deliberate on way forward for mineral resources

Ranj Pillai briefed about the mining and mineral potential in the Yukon, including pathways for Yukon resources to support Indian industry. Shri Pralhad Joshi informed that Ministry of Mines has formed an entity ‘KABIL’ to outsource critical and strategic minerals.

Officials from both sides will deliberate on the way forward for cooperation in the field of mineral resources. Pillai invited a delegation from India to Yukon and assured his full cooperation to the delegation for exploration of investment opportunities and acquisition of minerals, said the statement.
