New Delhi: India Mining Week 2026 has been postponed and may now be held in February 2027, according to people aware of the matter. The Ministry of Coal and the Ministry of Mines had planned the event, India’s first edition of a mining and minerals conference and exhibition, for November 15 to 17 at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi's Dwarka.

Speculating on the reasons, the sources pointed to weak interest from the industry. They also pointed to air pollution in the National Capital Region (NCR) after Diwali. The festival falls on November 8 this year, a week before the event was to open. The current political climate in the country, they said, may also have played a part.
PSU Watch reached out to the Ministry of Coal for a comment, but did not receive a response at the time of publishing. This story will be updated when a response is received.
Delegates who registered early would have paid by September 30, the cut-off for early-bird pricing under the event's terms and conditions. Standard rates applied from October 1. The same terms stated that the organisers reserve the right to postpone or cancel the event. The permitted reasons include force majeure, government direction and circumstances beyond their control.
Union Minister of Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy had announced the event at a curtain-raiser in New Delhi on July 15. At that event, the ministries billed it as the country's largest conference-cum-exhibition for the mining and minerals sector. The Mining, Geological and Metallurgical Institute of India (MGMI) was organising it under the aegis of the two ministries, with Informa as co-organiser.
The organisers expected the event to draw more than 25,000 delegates and over 500 exhibitors. They also projected more than 200 speakers, over 300 mining and mineral companies, and participants from more than 50 countries.

Outreach to international participants continued well after the launch. In September, the ministries hosted "India Mining: Global Connect," which brought together representatives of diplomatic missions from 19 countries. Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Coal Rupinder Brar used the meeting to invite the global mining community to take part.
