India Post inks MoU with CAIT for operationalisation of Bharat EMart portal

India Post on Tuesday signed an MoU with the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and Tripta Technologies for the operationalisation of a portal called 'Bharat EMart'

New Delhi: India Post on Tuesday signed an MoU with the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and Tripta Technologies for facilitating the operationalisation of a portal called 'Bharat EMart', said the Ministry of Communications in a statement. Further, it added that the portal will provide the facility for pick-up of consignments from the premises of traders. "It will ensure delivery at the doorsteps of the consignees across the country. It is believed that it will benefit eight crore traders associated with CAIT," the statement added. The MoU was signed in the presence of Minister of State for Communications, Devusinh Chauhan.

India Post to onboard itself on ONDC platform

The statement also claimed that India Post will onboard itself on the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) platform as a logistics service provider. Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for Communications said, "The Department of Posts has transformed itself with the passage of time and the demands of the public. Technology induction and the addition of new services have made India Post a modern and multiple service provider. Today, it provides banking, insurance, and the last-mile delivery of benefits of several welfare schemes run by the government to every village through its network of 1.59 lakh Post Offices."

MoU with CAIT will provide logistics support to small traders: Chauhan

"The Minister also expressed hope that the MoU with CAIT and Bharat e-Mart would provide much-needed logistics support to small traders in the country which would increase their businesses and also the opportunities for employment," said the statement.

Vineet Pandey, Secretary (Posts), Alok Sharma, DG Postal Services, Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General, CAIT and B C Bhartia, MD, Tripta Technologies, and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
