Jayanti Prasad takes additional charge as IBBI Chairperson

IBBI Whole-Time Member Jayanti Prasad has taken additional charge as Chairperson following the retirement of Ravi Mital earlier this month

New Delhi: Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) Whole-Time Member Jayanti Prasad has taken additional charge as chairperson following the retirement of Ravi Mital earlier this month.

Prasad assumed charge of the post with effect from September 13, 2026, while continuing to discharge his existing responsibilities as Whole-Time Member, IBBI, the regulator said in a release on Monday.

The arrangement will continue until November 20, 2026, when Prasad’s tenure as Whole-Time Member ends, or until a new chairperson assumes charge, or until further orders, whichever is earliest.

Prasad’s additional charge provides continuity in the leadership of IBBI as the government’s appointment of a new chairperson is awaited.

IBBI is the statutory regulator responsible for overseeing the insolvency and bankruptcy ecosystem under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. It regulates insolvency professionals and agencies and oversees the institutional framework for time-bound resolution of stressed assets.
