MCL hosts workshop on implementation of new labour codes

The event, hosted by MCL at Bhubaneswar, highlighted strategies for compliance and rollout of New Labour Codes across Coal India Limited and its subsidiaries

New Delhi: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) on Tuesday organised a significant day-long workshop on the "Way Forward for Implementation of New Labour Codes in Coal India", bringing together top HR leaders from the coal sector.

The event, hosted by MCL at Bhubaneswar, highlighted strategies for compliance and rollout of New Labour Codes across Coal India Limited and its subsidiaries. Keshav Rao, Director (HR) of MCL, welcomed the dignitaries.

Dr. Vinay Ranjan, Director (HR) of Coal India, delivered the opening address, setting the tone for discussions on labour code implications. Attendees included all Directors (HR) from Coal India’s subsidiaries: HN Mishra (CCL); Manish Kumar (NCL); Biranchi Das (SECL); Gjunjan Kumar Sinha (ECL); and Hemant Sharad Pandey (WCL). Goutam Banerjee, ED (HR), Coal India also participated prominently.

Dr. T K Panda, former Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (Retd.), shared expert insights on the codes' impact on industry policies and compliances. The session was enriched by contributions from Shri Sankar Nagachari, Director-Tech/CRD of CMPDIL, and Dr. Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra, former Director (HR) of Indian Oil (IOCL). Participants also added diverse perspectives.

Banerjee presented rollout plans of Coal India, followed by each subsidiary sharing their implementation updates.
