MCL surpasses 50 MT coal despatch, sets new record

New Delhi: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has set a new benchmark in operational excellence by surpassing 50 million tonnes of coal despatch for the fiscal year 2024-25, achieving this milestone seven days ahead of the previous record.

The achievement reflects a robust 7.7 percent growth in overall despatch compared to the same period of last fiscal year.

The milestone figure of 50 million tonnes in coal despatch was reached on Wednesday, underscoring MCL's commitment to efficiently fueling the nation’s energy needs.

Specifically, despatch to the power sector has increased by 7.5 percent, highlighting MCL's crucial role in supporting India's power generation infrastructure. Additionally, the company has achieved an impressive 15 percent growth in environment-friendly coal despatch through railways, aligning with its dedication to sustainable practices and environmental stewardship.

Expressing his appreciation for the dedication and hard work of team, MCL's Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) Uday A Kaole said, "surpassing 50 million tonnes of coal despatch in record time is a testament to the relentless efforts and commitment of our team. This milestone not only underscores our operational excellence but also strengthens our resolve to significantly contribute to the country’s energy security."
