MCL surpasses coal despatch target of 176 MT for FY23

MCL achieved the annual target of 176 million tonne (MT) coal despatch to consumers for financial year 2022-23

Sambalpur:  Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) achieved the annual target of 176 million tonne (MT) coal despatch to consumers for financial year 2022-23. MCL surpassed its annual target on Tuesday (February 28, 2023) by registering a progressive coal despatch of 176.11 MT for current financial year, recording a growth of 10 percent, against same period last fiscal. 

Over 77% of total coal was despatched to power sector

More than 77 percent of total coal despatched by MCL was to the power sector, playing a major role in meeting the increased energy demand in the country.

OP Singh, Chairman-cum-managing Director (CMD), congratulated the Team MCL for a historic new high in all the parameters. He thanked the Ministry of Coal, Ministry of Railways, Govt of Odisha, Coal India Limited, Trade Union representatives in MCL, all officers, employees and contractors’ workers for their valuable contribution in achieving this milestone.
