New Delhi: The Ministry of Mines Secretary Piyush Goyal (IAS) on Tuesday reviewed the progress of expansion projects and overall operational performance of National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) during his visit to the company’s headquarters in Bhubaneswar.
During his first visit to NALCO after assuming charge as Secretary, Mines, Goyal chaired a review meeting with Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) Brijendra Pratap Singh and the company’s board members. The discussions focused on ongoing expansion initiatives, production targets and operational efficiency across NALCO’s business units.
Goyal stressed the importance of timely completion of expansion projects and achieving production goals, while underlining the need for sustained improvements in operational efficiency. He also reviewed the company’s performance on key physical and financial parameters and commended NALCO for its overall performance, encouraging the management to continue improving outcomes across operations.
The meeting was attended by Director (Production) Pankaj Kumar Sharma, Director (Projects & Technical) Jagdish Arora, Director (HR) Tapas Kumar Pattanayak, Director (Finance) Abhay Kumar Behuria, along with other senior officials.
Earlier in the day, the Mines Secretary held discussions with the Chief Secretary of Odisha and senior state government officials on expediting NALCO’s expansion activities at its Mines and Refinery Complex in Damanjodi and the Smelter and Power Complex at Angul.
NALCO is a Navratna central public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Mines, with operations spanning bauxite mining, alumina refining, aluminium smelting and power generation.
