New Delhi: Administrative ministries and the Department of Public Enterprises did not deduct marks from the MoU score of CPSEs despite non-compliance of Sebi Regulations on Corporate Governance, a CAG report revealed on Wednesday.

The review of corporate governance by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India covered 65 CPSEs, whose shares/bonds were listed on stock exchanges and 36 CPSEs, including four statutory corporations, whose bonds/debentures were listed on the bourses as on March 31, 2024.

In seven central public sector enterprises (CPSEs) the number of non-executive directors were found to be less than 50 per cent of the board strength during the whole/part period of 2023-24, the report found.

A total of 49 CPSEs the required number of independent directors on board durign the pariod, it said.

Moreover, seven CPSEs did not have a woman director on the board and 16 CPSEs -- part of top 1,000 listed entities -- did not have women independent directors on the board during whole/part period of 2023-24.
