New Delhi: The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) organised a one-day Hydrogen Startup Exhibition to promote the growing hydrogen startup ecosystem in the country.
The exhibition featured 18 startups working across the green hydrogen value chain, including electrolyser technologies, fuel cells, biomass-to-hydrogen production, and digital solutions. The participating firms showcased their innovations and engaged with stakeholders from government, industry, and the research community.

According to the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), India had 249 hydrogen-focused startups as of September 2025.
The event was attended by key dignitaries, including Ajay Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, MNRE Secretary Santosh Sarangi, Scientific Secretary in the PSA Office Parminder Maini, and NGHM Director Abhay Bakre.
MNRE had earlier launched a scheme for New and Novel Uses of Hydrogen Production and Applications, under which Rs. 100 crore has been earmarked for startup funding, with up to Rs. 5 crore per project. Following a call for proposals issued by the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) in September 2025, 111 applications were received, of which 58 were shortlisted for presentations. The results are expected to be announced soon.
