New Delhi: Modi government's flagship scheme Ujjwala has reached a historic 6 crore households mark in a short span of 3 years time. Vice president M Venkaiah Naidu handed over the LPG connection to a woman beneficiary to reach the milestone. The function that was organized by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas took place at constitution club of India on Wednesday. Venkaiah Naidu hailed Ujjwala as a revolutionary scheme that transformed the lives of women in rural India. It is believed that Pradhanmantri Ujjwala Yojna had played a momentous role in BJP's victory of Hindi heartland Uttarpradesh-Uttarakhand elections in 2017.

Speaking at the occasion the vice president further said "In short, this is a spectacular achievement by any government in such a short time. It was even more heartening as the achievement came when the country is celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who envisioned a self-reliant India, a country that occupies a place of pride and dignity in the world order".

"Credit Goes To PM Modi"

Lauding the efforts of Prime Minister Modi made towards Ujjwala scheme that transformed the lives of women, farmers and the weaker sections, the vice president said that poor women getting LPG connections marked the real transformation. The scheme represents the true spirit of "Antyodaya', the welfare of the poorest of the poor. It not only brings them out of poverty but also empowers them to lead a life with dignity. Pointing out that air pollution was the biggest environmental cause of death worldwide, he said the Ujjwala yojana frees women from smoke-filled kitchens and health hazards associated with air pollution. He said that India has shown the world that complex problems sometimes have simple solutions.

It is important to mention here that seeing the rich benefits of the scheme BJP yielded in UP and Uttarakhand elections, the government has decided to take Ujjwala to down south in other states.
