New Delhi: MOIL Limited has welcomed the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2026, describing the legislation as a step towards establishing a streamlined and well-defined fiscal framework for the mining and minerals sector.

According to MOIL, the amendment is expected to provide greater long-term investment security and support sustained growth in India's mining and minerals industry.
The company said the legislation also reinforces the role of state governments in regional development and resource administration. It noted that the introduction of Section 9D and alignment of regulatory oversight under Section 2 provide a transparent and clearly defined fiscal structure.

MOIL said the updated framework could create a more predictable business environment for mining operators, encouraging them to undertake large-scale, long-term investments and adopt advanced extraction technologies.
The company also said the reform could support greater emphasis on environmental sustainability and safety standards across mining lease areas.
MOIL said it looks forward to working closely with both the Central and state governments for implementation of the updated framework.
