More than 1 lakh direct & indirect employment provided by coal sector in FY23: Joshi

Joshi said in a tweet on Friday that the coal sector has provided employment to over one lakh employees in the financial year 2023

New Delhi: Minister of Coal Pralhad Joshi on Friday appreciated the coal sector for providing employment to over one lakh employees in the financial year 2023. Joshi said in a tweet, "Happy to note that more than one lakh direct and indirect employment was provided in FY 2023 by the coal sector. With a continuous improvement in operational efficiencies and expansion in production capacities, the sector is set to become a driver of India's economic activities."

Further, the tweet highlighted that the sector hired 8,516 people on direct employment basis while it hired 1,01,464 employees on contractual basis.
