MoS Shripad Naik interacts with PM Surya Ghar progress in Goa

New Delhi: Beneficiaries of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana shared their experiences of achieving zero or significantly reduced electricity bills through rooftop solar installations at an ‘Aashirwad ka Diya’ ceremony held in Goa on Thursday.

The ceremony was organised under the ‘Sewa Ka Sankalp Abhiyan’ in the presence of Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy and Power Shripad Naik and Goa Minister for New and Renewable Energy and Power Ramakrishna Dhavalikar.

During an interaction with Naik, beneficiaries highlighted the financial benefits of adopting rooftop solar under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, particularly the reduction in their monthly electricity expenditure.

Naik highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting renewable energy, sustainable development, clean energy adoption and energy self-reliance. He also outlined the progress made under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and its benefits for households.

The event was attended by senior officials from the Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA), Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and REC, along with scheme beneficiaries and vendors.

The interaction provided a platform for beneficiaries to share their on-ground experience of rooftop solar adoption and the impact of the scheme on household electricity costs.
