NALCO posts record production, sales surpassing 40-year history

NALCO has declared its best-ever performance in production and sales for the 2025-26 fiscal year, eclipsing all previous records since its inception over four decades ago

New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: State-run National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) on Thursday announced its best-ever performance in production and sales for the 2025-26 fiscal year, eclipsing all previous records since its inception over four decades ago.

The Odisha-based Navratna PSU under the ministry of mines reported record output across key segments, solidifying its status as an integrated player in the alumina and aluminium sector, according to a company statement.

NALCO achieved bauxite excavation of 77.01 lakh tonnes and transportation of 77.07 lakh tonnes. Alumina hydrate production hit 23 lakh tonnes, with calcined alumina output at 22.75 lakh tonnes. Cast metal production reached 4.72 lakh tonnes, complemented by record net power generation of 6,953 million units and coal production of 40 lakh tonnes.

Sales figures were equally robust: total alumina sales at 14.46 lakh tonnes and aluminium metal sales at 4.74 lakh tonnes, including a record domestic sale of 4.61 lakh tonnes.

Year-on-year growth highlighted the gains—bauxite transportation up 6.13 per cent, calcined alumina production up 11.16 per cent, and aluminium cast metal output up 2.61 per cent. Total alumina sales surged 30.74 per cent, while aluminium sales rose 2.82 per cent compared to the previous fiscal.

At the Annual Business Plan strategic meet in Angul, NALCO CMD Brijendra Pratap Singh reviewed the performance and congratulated the team and stakeholders for their unwavering commitment and collective efforts.

Looking ahead, Singh stressed the company’s growth roadmap fueled by innovation. "We must continue improving and expanding our capabilities to meet future demands. Our progress will be driven by a renewed focus on the 3Ps - Plant Efficiency, People Efficiency, and Process Efficiency," he said in a statement.
