New Delhi: In a National Workshop on National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), Union Minister Piyush Goyal emphasised the significance of parliamentary democracy as the foundation for India's development and future, said the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in a statement on Wednesday. Serving as the Chief Guest, the Minister lauded NeVA as a testament to the government's commitment to utilsing technological advancements for public welfare, it added.

Goyal stresses the need to strengthen institutions & promote transparency

Goyal stressed the need to strengthen institutions and promote transparency across the country, asserting that NeVA empowers public representatives. He highlighted that the application equips legislators with information not only about their respective legislatures but also about developments in other states, fostering knowledge sharing and the adoption of best practices nationwide.

Recalling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a digitally empowered India, Goyal emphasised the importance of collective effort and a sense of duty to achieve the country's development goals. He expressed that NeVA embodies the spirit of this sense of duty and aligns with the Prime Minister's goal of a digital future for India.

Describing NeVA as an integrated and interconnected national portal, Goyal underscored that it benefits not only legislators but also the wider population. He emphasised that NeVA is apolitical and transcends political boundaries.

'NeVA will revolutionise India's democracy & functioning of legislatures & Parliament'

The Minister highlighted the transformative potential of NeVA, stating that it will revolutionise India's democracy and the functioning of legislatures and Parliament. Additionally, he emphasised that NeVA will contribute to reducing carbon footprint and inefficiencies resulting from the use of paper for legislative work. Goyal highlighted NeVA's role in fostering the principle of 'One Nation, One Technological Backbone,' connecting all legislators in collective efforts towards national development.

'Efficient IT functioning leads to effective service delivery'

Goyal called for collective efforts to ensure the success of NeVA, stating that efficient Information Technology (IT) functioning leads to effective service delivery. He cited various technological advancements in India, such as the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), digital payment systems, the CoWIN app, One Nation One Ration Card, and Government e-Marketplace, which have received international recognition for their positive impact on people's lives.

Goyal commended efforts of Joshi in spearheading NeVA

Goyal commended Union Minister Pralhad Joshi for his role in spearheading NeVA, describing it as an offer that cannot be refused. He congratulated the NeVA development team and the states that have already come on board, while encouraging remaining states to join the platform.
