New Delhi: In a significant development, the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) via a Video Conferencing session on Friday. The collaboration aims to capitalise on IIT Guwahati's renowned expertise in civil engineering, road construction, planning, and design to facilitate research and development (R&D) in these areas. The MoU was signed by Professor Parameswar K lyer, Director of IIT Guwahati, and Chanchal Kumar, Managing Director of NHIDCL.

NHIDCL seeks to promote innovative technologies

The NHIDCL, a central public sector enterprise (CPSE) operating under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways actively seeks to promote innovative technologies that can address the challenges faced in highway construction, particularly under extreme climatic and geographical conditions. The collaboration with IIT Guwahati is a strategic move to leverage the institute's expertise and resources in advancing the field of highway construction through cutting-edge research and development initiatives.

NHIDCL aims to enhance its capabilities in adopting innovative technologies

By partnering with IIT Guwahati, known for its contributions to civil engineering and infrastructure development, NHIDCL aims to enhance its capabilities in adopting innovative technologies and construction methodologies. The collaboration will focus on exploring new techniques, materials, and processes to improve the efficiency, durability, and sustainability of highway construction projects.

IIT Guwahati will work closely with NHIDCL for highway construction

Under the MoU, IIT Guwahati will work closely with NHIDCL to conduct collaborative research projects, provide technical assistance, and facilitate knowledge sharing in the field of highway construction. The collaboration will also pave the way for joint workshops, seminars, and training programs to promote skill development and foster a culture of innovation in the sector.
