NHPC commences commercial operation of 107 MW solar capacity at Karnisar Plant in Rajasthan

New Delhi: State-run hydropower major NHPC Limited has announced the commencement of commercial operations of 107.14 MW solar power capacity at its Karnisar Solar Power Plant in Bikaner, Rajasthan.

In a regulatory filing on Saturday, the company said that the commercial operation date (COD) for the 107.14 MW capacity—part of the total 300 MW project—has been declared with effect from April 12, 2025.

“NHPC has declared Commercial Operation Date (COD) w.e.f. 12.04.2025 for part capacity of 107.14 MW out of total 300 MW Karnisar Solar Power Plant, Bikaner,” the company stated.

The balance capacity of the project is currently under trial and its COD will be announced in due course, NHPC added.

The development marks a significant step in NHPC’s ongoing diversification into the renewable energy sector, particularly solar power, as part of its broader clean energy strategy.
