New Delhi: State-owned NHPC (National Hydroelectric Power Corporation) and the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at bolstering the hydroelectric potential of the state of Kerala, said the Ministry of Power in a statement on Saturday. The agreement entails NHPC providing consultancy services to KSEB as its Owner's Engineer, overseeing the assessment of ongoing projects as well as those in the pipeline, it added.
By forging this strategic alliance, KSEB aims to leverage NHPC's extensive technical knowledge and experience to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of its hydroelectric projects, said the statement. The partnership signifies a joint commitment to tap into the hydroelectric potential of Kerala in a manner that is both technologically advanced and economically viable, while also supporting the state's transition towards clean energy sources, it added.
A brief meeting between the Chairman and Managing Director of KSEB Limited and CMD of NHPC, RK Vishnoi took place before the official signing of the MoU, said the statement. During the meeting, the KSEB CMD expressed his admiration for NHPC's technical prowess and expertise, commending CMD RK Vishnoi for collaborating with KSEB on this crucial endeavour. The KSEB CMD conveyed his strong belief and faith in NHPC's capabilities to deliver high-quality consultancy services, it added.
The signing of the MoU marks a significant milestone in the collaboration between NHPC and KSEB, as they work together towards the accelerated development of Kerala's hydroelectric resources. This partnership is expected to pave the way for sustainable growth and contribute to the state's clean energy goals.
