New Delhi: NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydropower company, has announced the commencement of online applications for its “NHPC Sports Scholarship Scheme for Upcoming Sportspersons.” This initiative aims to support and nurture young sporting talent across the country by providing financial assistance to promising athletes.
The scholarship is open to eligible applicants in 16 sports disciplines, including Football, Kabaddi, Hockey, Boxing, Archery, Athletics, Shooting, Cricket, Swimming, Wrestling, Volleyball, Bridge, Table Tennis, Chess, Badminton, and Para Sports. The program is designed to benefit young athletes between the ages of 14-19 years, with an extended eligibility age of 14-24 years for para-sports. Through this initiative, NHPC seeks to build a talent pool of skilled sportspersons at a formative stage of their careers.
Under the scheme, a maximum of 32 scholarships will be awarded across the mentioned sports. The scholarships will be categorized into two segments: “Elite Scholar” and “Scholar,” based on the applicants’ performance and fulfillment of the eligibility criteria.
Elite Scholars: Rs 12,000 per month in the first year, Rs. 13,000 per month in the second year, and Rs. 14,000 per month in the third year.
Scholars: Rs. 9,000 per month in the first year, Rs. 10,000 per month in the second year, and Rs. 11,000 per month in the third year.
Additional benefits will also be provided under the scheme.
The scholarship will be granted for a period of three years to ensure sustained support for the athletes. Interested candidates can find detailed information about the scheme in the “Career” section of NHPC’s official website at www.nhpcindia.com.
The last date for submitting online applications is March 26, 2025. Only online applications will be considered, and no hard copies or offline submissions will be accepted.
