NHPC signs pact to develop 2 GW PSP, 1 GW solar energy projects in Odisha

NHPC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with GRIDCO Odisha for the development of Pumped Storage Projects (PSPs) and Renewable Energy in the state

New Delhi: State-run NHPC Limited, the largest hydropower PSU, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with GRIDCO Odisha for the development of Pumped Storage Projects (PSPs) and Renewable Energy in the state. The MoU envisages setting up Self-identified Pumped Storage Projects of at least 2,000 MW and Renewable Energy Projects (Ground-Mounted Solar Projects / Floating Solar Projects) of at least 1,000 MW in the state.

The MoU was signed on June 23 by Rajat Gupta, Executive Director (Strategy Business Development and Consultancy), NHPC, and Trilochan Panda, Managing Director, GRIDCO Limited, in the presence of Nikunja B Dhal, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Energy, government of Odisha, and the Chairperson of GRIDCO, NHPC's Director (Projects) Biswajit Basu, and other senior officers of both the organisations.
