New Delhi: The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari announced the successful completion of the 2-lane Jaiswal Bridge over River Chenab on the Udhampur-Ramban section of NH-44, said the Ministry in a statement on Thursday. In a series of tweets, the minister described the bridge as a meticulously designed Balanced Cantilever structure, spanning 118 meters and built at a cost of Rs 20 crore, it added.

Significance of newly established bridge

Gadkari highlighted the significance of the newly established bridge and stated its two key benefits, said the statement. Firstly, the statement noted that the bridge will alleviate congestion along the Chanderkot to Ramban section, leading to smoother vehicular movement. Secondly, it will facilitate the seamless passage of vehicles and pilgrim traffic during the upcoming 'Shri Amarnath Yatra' on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway 44, scheduled to commence shortly, it added.

The bridge will increase tourism: Gadkari

Gadkari emphasised upon the government's unwavering commitment to providing Jammu and Kashmir with exceptional highway infrastructure. He underscored that this transformative development not only contributes to the region's economic growth but also enhances its allure as a prime tourist destination, said the statement.
