New Delhi: NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NLC India Limited (NLCIL), has entered into a Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) with PTC India Limited to establish a new green energy joint venture aimed at developing up to 2,000 MW of renewable energy capacity.
The agreement has been signed in Neyveli in the presence of Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director, NLC India Limited, Dr. Manoj Kumar Jhawar, Chairman and Managing Director, PTC India Limited, and the Functional Directors of NLCIL. This development follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two organisations on September 8, 2025.
PTC India, headquartered in New Delhi, is a leading provider of power trading solutions, while NLCIL has been rapidly expanding its renewable energy portfolio. The new joint venture company (JVC) will focus on the establishment, operation and maintenance of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, hydro, battery energy storage systems (BESS), green ammonia, and other emerging green technologies.
The JV aims to develop up to 2,000 MW of green energy capacity in phases, with the first phase targeting approximately 500 MW. The collaboration will leverage the complementary strengths of both organisations in project development, power trading, renewable energy park creation, and integrated green energy solutions.
The JVC will also undertake power sales through competitive and regulated routes under Section 62 or Section 63 of the Electricity Act, catering to a mix of distribution companies (DISCOMs), government entities, and commercial and industrial consumers.
The partnership marks a significant step in enabling large-scale green energy deployment and supports India’s transition towards cleaner and sustainable energy sources.
