The MoU has been signed during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for the Saurashtra and Kutch Region held on January 12, at Rajkot. The agreement was executed by Devendra Pratap Singh, Executive Director (Projects & Business Development) and CEO, NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL), on behalf of NLCIL, and Bhakthi Shamal, Joint Secretary, Energy & Petrochemicals Department, on behalf of the Government of Gujarat .

Under the non-binding MoU, NLCIL proposes to develop a mix of solar, wind, hybrid and battery energy storage projects in Gujarat. The projects will be implemented through NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL), a wholly owned subsidiary and the dedicated renewable energy arm of NLCIL .

The proposed collaboration aligns with NLCIL’s corporate plan to achieve 10 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 and reflects the company’s focus on clean energy growth, sustainability and decarbonisation. The Government of Gujarat will facilitate statutory approvals, clearances and other support as per prevailing state policies to enable timely execution of the projects.

The partnership is expected to generate significant employment opportunities, strengthen Gujarat’s position as a renewable energy hub and contribute to India’s broader objectives of enhancing non-fossil fuel-based power generation and achieving net-zero emissions targets.
