“Subsequent to the commencement of overburden removal on December 19, 2025, the Pachwara South Open Cast Project successfully commenced coal production on March 29, 2026,” the NLC said in the filing to BSE.

The Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Limited (NUPPL), formed to develop coal-based thermal power projects, will use the coal primarily to fuel its 3x660 MW Ghatampur thermal power plant in Ghatampur, Uttar Pradesh.

To meet the fuel requirement of the said power plant, the Pachwara South coal block located in Dumka district, Jharkhand, was allotted to the company by the coal ministry.

The previously unexplored coal block has been fully explored by the NUPPL through detailed drilling across the entire block.
