New Delhi: State-owned NMDC Limited said in a tweet on Saturday that it is constructing a slurry pipeline of 15 MTPA, spanning from Bailadila to Nagarnar and extending all the way to Visakhapatnam. This landmark project is aimed at enhancing transportation efficiency while minimising the company's carbon footprint and curbing fugitive emissions, it added.

Slurry pipeline is a green corridor that will reduce our carbon footprint

Further, the PSU noted that the "slurry pipeline is a green corridor that will reduce our carbon footprint by reducing dependence on road transportation. This will help in curbing fugitive emissions."

Slurry pipeline will help NMDC to engage in eco-friendly operations

The implementation of the slurry pipeline project signifies a remarkable step forward for NMDC in its pursuit of eco-friendly operations. It will enable the company to transport iron ore more efficiently while minimising the release of fugitive emissions, thereby contributing to a greener and more sustainable future. Fugitive emissions, which can occur during the transportation of bulk materials, are effectively curbed by using the slurry pipeline. The enclosed system minimises the release of particulate matter and dust, ensuring better air quality and reduced environmental impact.

The slurry pipeline project holds immense potential not only in terms of environmental benefits but also in bolstering NMDC's operational efficiency. The pipeline's capacity to transport 15 MTPA of iron ore is expected to significantly streamline the company's logistical processes, ensuring a smoother flow of essential resources.
