The Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd (YIAPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, is responsible for developing the project. The foundation stone for the airport was laid in November 2021, and a validation flight was successfully conducted in December 2024.

"We have submitted our application for the aerodrome license and are working closely with aviation and security regulators to complete all necessary steps, including the publication of the Aerodrome Information Publication (AIP)," NIA stated. Additionally, discussions with the state government regarding the airport's inauguration are underway.

The Noida International Airport was originally scheduled to begin operations in April 2024. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is progressing with work on the air traffic control tower, while construction of the passenger terminal and related infrastructure is advancing well, according to the latest update.

In its first phase, the airport is expected to have a passenger handling capacity of 12 million annually. Once operational, it will play a crucial role in enhancing air connectivity and supporting regional economic growth.
