NTPC adds 660 MW Unit at North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project to installed capacity

New Delhi: State-run power major NTPC Limited announced on Thursday that it has successfully completed the trial operation of a 660 MW unit at its North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project, thereby officially adding it to the company's installed capacity.

According to an exchange filing, Unit-3 of the 3x660 MW North Karanpura project met the approved operational norms and received the necessary clearances to be considered fully operational. With this development, NTPC’s total installed capacity now stands at 60,266 MW on a standalone basis and 81,368 MW on a group level.

The North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project, located in Jharkhand, is one of NTPC’s key thermal initiatives and is aimed at bolstering power supply in the eastern region of India.

NTPC Limited, a Government of India enterprise, remains the country’s largest power utility, playing a central role in meeting India's energy needs through a diversified portfolio comprising thermal, hydro, solar, and wind projects.
