NTPC declares COD of additional 125 MW at Bhadla Solar project in Rajasthan

NTPC announced the declaration of commercial operation of an additional 125 MW capacity at its 500 MW Bhadla Solar PV Project in Phalodi, Rajasthan

New Delhi: NTPC Limited on Tuesday announced the declaration of commercial operation of an additional 125 MW capacity at its 500 MW Bhadla Solar PV Project in Phalodi, Rajasthan, marking another milestone in the group’s renewable energy expansion.

In a regulatory filing, the company said that the second part capacity of 125 MW has achieved Commercial Operation Date (COD) with effect from January 31, 2026. The project is being implemented by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a step-down subsidiary of NTPC Ltd, through NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL).

The declaration of COD is based on the certification issued by Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RREC) on February 3, 2026.

With the commissioning of this capacity, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Group has increased to 87,790 MW, while its total commercial capacity now stands at 86,710 MW.

Separately, NTPC Green Energy Limited informed stock exchanges that its group’s commercial renewable energy capacity has reached 8,688.25 MW. Following the addition of the 125 MW capacity, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Limited Group has risen to 8,813.25 MW.

The Bhadla Solar Park, located in Rajasthan’s Thar desert region, is one of the largest solar power parks in the world and is a key component of NTPC’s strategy to scale up its green energy portfolio in line with India’s clean energy and net-zero ambitions.
