New Delhi: NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has announced the incorporation of a new joint venture company, Chhattisgarh NTPC Green Energy Limited, aimed at expanding renewable energy capacity in Chhattisgarh through large-scale solar, wind and hybrid power projects.
According to a regulatory filing, the new entity was incorporated on December 5, 2025. It is structured as a 74:26 joint venture between NGEL and the Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL). NGEL will hold 74 percent equity in the company, thereby making it a subsidiary.
The JV is being set up with the objective of developing, operating and maintaining renewable energy parks with capacities of up to 2 GW across identified locations in Chhattisgarh. The scope includes development of Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Parks (UMREPPs) and floating solar installations on reservoirs in the state.
NGEL has subscribed to 74,000 equity shares at a face value of ₹10 each through cash consideration. The incorporation has received concurrence from the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) via a letter dated April 23, 2025.
The development is expected to boost clean energy generation and support state-level power sector reforms, while further strengthening NTPC group’s commitment to India's renewable energy targets.
