New Delhi: NTPC Vindhyachal hosted a high-level meeting with senior railway officials and Heads of Projects (HOPs) of Vindhya Super Thermal Region (VSR) stations to discuss measures to strengthen coal and ash transportation logistics.
The meeting, held on September 26, was attended by Dimpy Garg, General Manager, East Central Railway (ECR), along with senior railway officials and senior executives from NTPC’s VSR stations.

During the meeting, Railways assured all possible support for the movement of BOBR and BOXN rakes, subject to availability of coal at the mine end, to facilitate coal stock build-up across the VSR region.
NTPC Vindhyachal also proposed implementation of the MGR policy through deployment of three DCH rakes in circuit. Railways said the proposal would be taken up for further discussion at the corporate level.

The meeting also focused on transportation of fly ash. Garg said Railways would extend support to facilitate coal and ash movement in the region and encouraged NTPC to increase fly ash loading through BOXN rakes.
The officials highlighted the 40 percent freight rebate available for fly ash transportation by rail as an advantage for increasing rail-based ash movement.
The meeting also discussed the proposal for rail-based fly ash backfilling of Gorbi mine, which was highlighted as an environmentally beneficial initiative. Railways assured necessary support for implementing the initiative.
The meeting was attended by Indu Rani Dubey, PCOM; Shailesh Verma, PCE; Rajiv Gupta, CAO/C/S; and Akhilesh Misra, DRM/DHN, along with Kishore Kumar Hota, Executive Director, Vindhyachal; Sanjay Asati, Executive Director, Rihand; and senior officials from VSR stations.
