New Delhi: NTPC’s Regional Learning Institute (RLI), Vindhyachal has commenced the fourth batch of its two-month residential training programme on Wet Flue Gas Desulphurization (WFGD) for seven engineers from ESKOM, South Africa.

The programme, organised in association with NTPC’s International Business Department (IBD), is aimed at strengthening the growing partnership between NTPC and ESKOM in the area of sustainable power generation.
Inaugurating the programme, Executive Director (Vindhyachal) Kishore Kumar Hota highlighted Vindhyachal Thermal Power Station’s distinction as the first NTPC station to have an FGD system. He said the training programme would provide participants with end-to-end exposure to FGD erection, commissioning and operations.
General Manager (O&M) Manikyan Suresh emphasised NTPC’s focus on safety and encouraged the participating engineers to explore the wider technological initiatives at Vindhyachal, including solar and hydro projects. He also urged them to make full use of hands-on interactions with NTPC experts during the programme.
AGM (RLI) Dr Debasmita Tripathy said around 24 ESKOM professionals had already been trained through the previous three batches. She described the initiative as an important platform for knowledge exchange, professional excellence and strengthening India-South Africa cooperation.

AGM (IBD) Tapas Kumar Mazumdar outlined the journey of the ESKOM-NTPC association and welcomed the fourth and final batch of the training programme. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by DGM (IBD) Lal Bihari Prasad.
The initiative further strengthens RLI Vindhyachal’s role as a centre for international capability building while showcasing NTPC’s expertise in cleaner power technologies and promoting professional cooperation between India and South Africa.
