OMC MD reviews Chrome zone mining operations in Jajpur

New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Odisha Mining Corporation Limited's (OMC) Managing Director (MD) Sudhansu Mohan Samal (IAS) on Monday reviewed the Corporation’s chrome zone mining operations in Jajpur district.

He was accompanied by OMC's Director (Operations) Sabyasachi Mohanty, Director (HR) Alok Kumar Pal, Director (Finance) Bana Bihari Pani, along with sectional heads and staff of JK Road Mining Region.

During the visit, Samal inspected key operational sites at South Kaliapani mines including the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), Quarry D, Quarry F, Stockyard, Chrome Ore Beneficiation Plant (COBP), Tailing Pond, and also Sukrangi and Kaliapani mines. He advised teams to strengthen automation in ore production and dispatch, ensure transparency in ore quality assurance, and focus on collective ownership in execution. He also directed for strict compliance with statutory and legal requirements.

At OMC’s Ferro-Chrome Plant, the MD reviewed plant operations and stressed on business diversification, adoption of renewable energy sources like solar power, and large-scale plantation drives to support ecological balance. He underlined the corporation’s sustainability-driven approach and environmental stewardship.

Commending the efforts of the regional teams, Samal urged them to maintain a proactive approach towards innovation, safety and environmental responsibility while aligning with OMC’s long-term growth strategy.

OMC, one of India’s largest mining companies, operates 19 mines in the state. Its major minerals include chrome, iron and bauxite ore, which supply key industries such as steel, sponge iron, aluminium, and ferro-alloys.
