New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: The Managing Director of Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) Sudhansu Mohan Samal (IAS) undertook a two-day field visit to key mining operations and community infrastructure in southern Odisha to review production performance, safety standards and the progress of corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
During the visit, Samal, accompanied by OMC's Director (Operations) Sabyasachi Mohanty, Director (HR) Alok Pal and Director (Finance) Banabihari Pani, inspected the Ampavalli Limestone Mine, where he reviewed ongoing mining operations, safety practices and production levels. He interacted with mine officials and workers to assess operational efficiency and discussed measures to strengthen output while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental norms.
On the second day, the OMC team visited the Kodingamali Bauxite Mine in the presence of Koraput Collector and District Magistrate Manoj Satyawan Mahajan, IAS, along with other senior district officials. Discussions with the Regional Manager and Mine Manager focused on the current production status, sustainable mining practices, plans to enhance output, streamlining the despatch of raw material, safety measures and expansion plans over the next five years.
Earlier, the Managing Director also reviewed community infrastructure created under OMC’s CSR programme at Laxmipur. These included Sanghana High School, the Laxmipur Maternity and Child Health Care Centre, ITI Laxmipur and a Mini Sanitation Park for solid waste management. Interactions with local authorities centred on service delivery, operational efficiency and the impact of these facilities on the local population.
