New Delhi: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone of SJVN Limited's 100 MW Nawa Solar Power Project at Bikaner, Rajasthan on Thursday. On the occasion, the Governor of Rajasthan Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde, Chief Minister of Rajasthan Bhajan Lal Sharma, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of State Arjun Ram Meghwal and other dignitaries were also present.
The event was virtually joined by SJVN CMD (Addl. Charge) Bhupender Gupta, Director (Projects) Sushil Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel) Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director Finance (Addl. Charge) Rajendra Prasad Goyal and other senior officials of the company. During the ceremony at Bikaner, senior officials of SJVN and SGEL were also present.
The 100 MW Nawa Solar Power Project is being developed by SJVN through its renewable arm, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) at Nawa in District Didwana Kuchaman, Rajasthan. The project will be developed at a cost of Rs 415 crores. The solar project will contribute in nation's goal of achieving net zero carbon emission economy by 2070.
The project is expected to generate approximately 254.51 million units of electricity in the first year and about 5850 million units over a period of 25 years. The generated power will be supplied to RUVITL at a tariff of Rs 2.62 per unit. The project is anticipated to reduce over 2.86 lakh tonnes of carbon emissions over a period of 25 years, making a noteworthy contribution to environmental sustainability.
Scheduled for commissioning by 31st December 2025, the project will create direct and indirect employment opportunities in the region. Additionally, SJVN is undertaking community development initiatives in nearby areas, focusing on education, drinking water, sanitation, health services and women empowerment.
