PM Modi inaugurates 594-km Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the 594-km access-controlled Greenfield Ganga Expressway in Hardoi, marking a major boost to connectivity and infrastructure development in Uttar Pradesh.

Describing the project as a transformative initiative, the Prime Minister said the expressway will serve as a new “lifeline” for the state’s development, connecting western, central and eastern regions while bringing the opportunities of the National Capital Region closer. He noted that the corridor will significantly enhance logistics efficiency, improve market access for farmers, and spur industrial growth along its route.

The expressway, completed in under five years, spans nearly 600 km and passes through multiple districts, benefiting crores of citizens. The government plans to develop industrial corridors along the route, focusing on sectors such as pharmaceuticals, textiles, leather, and handicrafts, which are expected to generate employment and support MSMEs.

Highlighting the broader infrastructure push, Modi said such expressways are shaping the future of a developing India. He added that improved connectivity will help increase farmers’ income, boost exports, and strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s position as a manufacturing and investment hub.

The Prime Minister also reiterated the state’s ambition to become a $1 trillion economy, supported by rapid infrastructure expansion, rising industrial activity, and improved connectivity networks.
