New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated, laid the foundation stone, and dedicated to the nation multiple infrastructure and development projects worth over Rs 26,000 crore in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The projects span across key sectors including railways, roads, electricity, health, and water supply.
Addressing a large gathering, with virtual participation from across 18 states and union territories, PM Modi emphasized India’s accelerated infrastructure transformation. He highlighted that India is now investing six times more in infrastructure development compared to a decade ago, showcasing iconic projects such as the Chenab Bridge, Sela Tunnel, and Atal Setu.
The Prime Minister inaugurated 103 redeveloped Amrit Bharat Stations across 86 districts, including Deshnoke station in Bikaner, developed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. These stations blend regional architecture with modern facilities and aim to boost tourism and create local employment.
He also laid the foundation stone and dedicated several electrified railway lines, spanning over 1,000 km, and flagged off a new train connecting Bikaner and Mumbai. Over Rs 10,000 crore is being invested in Rajasthan’s railway infrastructure this year—a 15-fold increase from pre-2014 levels.
In a major push to road connectivity, the Prime Minister launched projects worth Rs 4,850 crore, including national highway upgrades and underpasses, strengthening road access to border regions. Power and green energy initiatives were also unveiled, including solar projects in Bikaner and Didwana-Kuchaman, and key transmission systems aimed at enhancing Rajasthan’s electricity supply.
He also inaugurated multiple state-level projects, including new nursing colleges, rural and urban water supply schemes, and state highway development across 750 km. A further 900 km of highways are planned under upcoming phases.
Highlighting Rajasthan’s rapid industrialization, PM Modi praised the state government’s new industrial policies and the near-completion of the Barmer refinery. He also underscored the strategic importance of major connectivity corridors like the Amritsar-Jamnagar Economic Corridor and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed India’s firm stance against terrorism, referencing the recent Operation Sindoor following the April 22 terror attack. He asserted that India’s new doctrine ensures swift and decisive responses, setting a strong precedent on national security.
The event was attended by Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Kisanrao Bagade, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, and Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Arjun Ram Meghwal, among others.
