Describing the development as a “new chapter” in the Viksit UP, Viksit Bharat vision, the Prime Minister said the airport will benefit a large region across western Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas, including Agra, Mathura, Meerut, Aligarh, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad. He noted that the project will create new opportunities for farmers, MSMEs, and youth, while enhancing global connectivity.

Highlighting the broader economic impact, Modi said the airport, along with recent infrastructure projects such as the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor and a semiconductor facility in Noida, will position the region as a major logistics and investment hub. He also underlined the role of multimodal connectivity, including freight corridors converging at Dadri, in boosting trade and industry.

The Prime Minister emphasised the government’s focus on expanding aviation infrastructure, noting that India now has over 160 airports, with Uttar Pradesh’s count rising to 17. He also highlighted the expansion of the UDAN scheme to improve affordable air travel and plans to develop 100 new airports and 200 helipads nationwide.

Modi further announced the foundation of a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Jewar, aimed at reducing dependence on foreign services and generating employment.

Underscoring the importance of sustainable growth, he said the government is taking measures to shield citizens from global energy disruptions while continuing investments in infrastructure. He also acknowledged the contribution of farmers, particularly in ethanol production, in reducing crude oil imports.

Calling the airport a catalyst for economic transformation, the Prime Minister said it would play a key role in integrating North India with global markets and strengthening the vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
