Power Grid commissions 2,500 MW solar energy transmission project in Karnataka

New Delhi: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has commissioned its transmission project for the 2,500 MW solar energy zone in Bidar, Karnataka, with effect from October 5, 2026.

The company informed the stock exchanges about the commissioning in a regulatory filing dated October 8, stating that it had received the Date of Commercial Operation (DOCO) notification for the project via email on the same day.

The project, titled “Transmission Scheme for Solar Energy Zone in Bidar (2500 MW), Karnataka (TBCB)”, was entrusted to POWERGRID Bidar Transmission Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of POWERGRID at the time.

POWERGRID Bidar Transmission Limited was amalgamated with POWERGRID Khavda II-C Transmission Limited with effect from March 1, 2026, pursuant to an order issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on January 27, 2026.

The commissioning of the transmission scheme is intended to support the evacuation of power from the 2,500 MW solar energy zone in Bidar, Karnataka.
