The project, awarded under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process, involved the implementation of two significant regional expansion schemes — the Western Region Expansion Scheme-XXVIII (WRES-XXVIII) and Western Region Expansion Scheme-XXIX (WRES-XXIX). The entire project has been declared commercially operational as of April 8, 2025. The Notification for Commercial Operation (DOCO) was formally received on May 23, 2025.

This development marks another milestone in Power Grid’s efforts to strengthen the transmission infrastructure in western India, enhancing grid reliability and facilitating efficient power transfer across the region. The timely commissioning of such large-scale transmission schemes reinforces the company’s leadership in the power transmission sector and its commitment to meeting the growing energy demands of the nation.
