Power Grid emerges as successful bidder for inter-regional transmission project

Power Grid has emerged as the successful bidder for the establishment of 765 kV Vindhyachal-Varanasi transmission line on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis

New Delhi: Maharatna power PSU Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has been declared the successful bidder under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process for a major inter-state transmission project.

The project, titled “Inter-regional (NR-WR) Transmission System strengthening to relieve the loading of 765 kV Vindhyachal-Varanasi D/c line,” will be executed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis. The company received the Letter of Intent (LoI) for the project on September 16, 2025.

As part of the project scope, Power Grid will establish a new 765 kV sub-station at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. In addition, the project includes laying 765 kV double-circuit transmission lines traversing across the states of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
