New Delhi: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has been declared the successful bidder under Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) for an inter-state transmission project to evacuate power from the 6 GW Barmer-II solar project in Rajasthan.

The project will be implemented on a build, own, operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis at quoted annual transmission charges of Rs 3,244.33 crore. Power Grid received the Letter of Intent (LoI) for the project on September 2, 2026.

The project includes the establishment of 6,000 MW, ±800 kV HVDC terminals at Barmer-II in Rajasthan and South Kalamb in Maharashtra, along with augmentation of the South Kalamb substation.
It will also involve the construction of an approximately 1,000-km ±800 kV HVDC bipole line passing through Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra, besides associated 400 kV transmission lines and installation of two SynCon units at Barmer-II.
