New Delhi: The Ministry of Power has launched a stakeholder survey on Tuesday to support the development of the India Energy Stack (IES), a Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for the power sector. The initiative is aimed at creating a connected, intelligent, and interoperable energy ecosystem to drive India’s energy transition.
According to the ministry, “India’s power sector is undergoing a paradigm shift driven by grid digitalisation, renewable energy integration, decentralised power generation, and consumer-centric reforms. To support this transformation, the Ministry of Power has conceptualised the India Energy Stack.”
As part of the initiative, a Utility Intelligence Platform will be developed in collaboration with selected power distribution companies. The platform will be built on standardised, open APIs and protocols, and will integrate data from multiple IT and operational technology (OT) systems. This is expected to unlock innovation and enhance operational efficiency across the sector.
The ministry emphasised that the IES will define open standards and interoperability frameworks for all stakeholders, helping organisations stay future-ready and minimise retrofit costs.
To make the IES comprehensive, the Power Ministry has launched a Stakeholder Mapping Survey to gather details about organisational profiles, solutions and innovations, and readiness to participate in the IES ecosystem.
The statement urged all utilities, technology providers, and innovators to align their early product designs with the IES standards. “Early adoption will help organisations remain future-ready, minimise retrofit costs, and support a unified, innovation-driven power sector,” it said.
Stakeholders have been asked to complete the survey within two weeks via the link provided by the ministry. The responses will form the foundation for building a reference framework for utilities as well as solution providers.
