PowerGrid First PSU to sign MoU with Energy Management Centre-Kerala

PowerGrid will dedicate its’ expertise to overall improvement of the Power scenario in Kerala through this MoU from Energy Efficiency to sustainable energy

New Delhi: PowerGrid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), signed MoU with Energy Management Centre (EMC), Kerala on Monday to have long term association in the areas of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Energy. PowerGrid has become the first-ever CPSE to sign MoU with EMC-Kerala in the area of Energy Management. EMC was established in 1996 under the Department of Power, Government of Kerala as a state-designated agency for promoting energy conservation & energy efficiency in the State of Kerala.

Towards sustainable-efficient energy

PowerGrid will dedicate its' expertise to support the initiatives in the areas of Energy Efficiency in Power Distribution, Energy Efficiency in Process Industries, Demand Side Management Programmes, Sustainable Energy & any other area of mutual interest through its highly qualified technical manpower pool in rational mechanisms towards overall improvement of the Power scenario in Kerala through this MoU. The MoU was signed by Sanjay Garg, Executive Director, PowerGrid and K. M. Dharesan Unnithan, Director, Energy Management Centre, Kerala in presence of other senior officials both from PowerGrid and EMC, Kerala at Thiruvananthapuram.

Continues the 'Excellent' league

PowerGrid, a Navratna CPSE and the Central Transmission Utility (CTU) of the country, has been consistently receiving the highest rating i.e. "Excellent" under MoU since signing of the first MoU in 1993-94. As on May 31, 2019, the company owns & operates over 153,635 ckt km of transmission lines, 243 EHV sub-stations with transformation capacity of more than 367,097 MVA. Availability of this gigantic transmission network has been consistently maintained over 99%.
