New Delhi: RailTel Corporation of India, a Miniratna CPSU under the Ministry of Railways, marked the Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW) 2023 with a series of activities from October 30 to November 5. The
vigilance Department of RailTel, led by CVO Dr Chandramani Sharma, executed a range of awareness initiatives throughout the week, said an official release by RailTel.
This event was held under the auspices of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), the apex vigilance institution, with the goal of rallying all
the stakeholders to actively engage in the prevention of corruption and to heighten public consciousness regarding the perils posed by corrupt practices.
The theme chosen for VAW-2023 was 'Say no to corruption; commit to the Nation'. This provided an occasion for employees and other stakeholders to reaffirm their commitment to fostering honesty and integrity in every facet of official and personal interactions.
On the inaugural day of VAW-2023, October 30, Sanjai Kumar, CMD/RailTel, administered the Integrity Pledge to all RailTel employees, linking them through a videoconference. An impactful Nukkad Natak was staged by RailTel's in-house team to enlighten individuals about the effects of corruption and created awareness about the PIDPI. The week unfolded with an array of programs, including enlightening lectures by the in-house experts, engaging quiz competitions and speech contests. The other activities as part of the observance were poster making, poem writing, essay writing by employees and their family members.

Esteemed officials from CVC, CBI, and the Railway Board were invited to share their expertise on various facets of vigilance, providing invaluable insights to the participants. As a prelude to VAW 2023, a three-months campaign on "Preventive Vigilance Measures" is being conducted from August 16 to November 15 on the guidance of CVC, which includes awareness about PIDPI, capacity building, identification and implementation of systemic improvement measures, leveraging IT for
complaint disposal, updating of manual. As a thrust to capacity building, RailTel had fruitful sessions on 5-themes namely systems and procedures, cyber hygiene and security, procurement, role of IO and PO in conducting inquiries and HR systems and procedures.
RailTel, under the guidance of the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), diligently
executed this campaign in its Corporate Office and Regional Offices, achieving commendable progress which was showcased during this week.
The culminating event of this week-long ceremony was the valedictory function, graced with concluding remarks by Sanjai Kumar, CMD/RailTel, and an insightful Observance Report presented by D. Chandramani Sharma, CVO/RailTel. Additionally, the occasion witnessed the launch of the Vigilance Bulletin and the commendable distribution of prizes to the winners of various competitions, further accentuating the significance and success of VAW-2023.
